In & Around Horse Country was first published
in 1990 and today boasts
a circulation of 30,000 copies. The paper
is issued every
other month and is
distributed not only throughout the local Mid-Atlantic
horse community but goes
across the United States as well as to Canada,
the UK, Ireland, and Australia.
The paper covers
a range of horse-related topics, most notably foxhunting, but
other
subjects such as racing
(flat track, steeplechasing, and point-to-point),
showing, carriage driving, and horse care appear as well.
Our regular columnists
and contributors include both professionals and leading
amateurs
in their respective fields. None are mere observers. Rather, each
writes
from the perspective of a participant, bringing the insider’s
view seen only by those
in the center of the action. The adrenalin rush of
a thrilling
run in the hunt field, the
excitement of a closely contested race, the perils
of leaping over challenging fences,
the satisfaction of working through a
training session—each tale is crafted by the
person who actually undertook
the adventure.
A section of book
reviews appears in each issue, covering recent (or in some
instances reissued) publications ranging from children’s books to
historical works
to pictorial collections. Works of fiction, biographies,
and instructional
pieces are
considered regularly.
The “country” covered by In & Around
Horse Country has no physical borders.
The territory consists of like-minded
enthusiasts who share a love of
horse
sports and who enjoy a good read about their favorite equestrian topics.

bimonthly and is mailed to subscribers.
The subscription rate for
six issues is $25.00 for delivery by regular postal service
to addresses
in the US. For delivery by first class mail in the US, the subscription
rate
is $35.00. For international delivery (e.g., Europe, Canada, Australia,
etc.), the
six-issue subscription rate is $45.00.
